Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Digits in castles cannot be smaller than digits on lower floors of the same castle.
Each digit on an elephant indicates how many times that digit appears in a castle.
Each digit on a flag indicates how many times that digit appears on an elephant.

Note: there are no negative constraints; a digit's not appearing on an elephant is irrelephant.

Excellent, very fun puzzle. "Why does the elephant have a crown on its head?" Because it rules :)
---
juggler: "Heavy is the elephant who wears the crown. And the elephant who doesn't wear the crown. Just elephants in general, really."

I agree with konklone on this one. Very nice, very original, and with a solve path that required repeated reassessment of what I knew.

This was great, and very original. And I loved the clear phases and decision points at which I had to re-assess what I knew. Path got a little hard to spot at a couple points but it was always fair and satisfying to get through it.

I'll make a point to go to one of the Elephant and Castle bars in my city soon and show the bartender this puzzle.

An elephunny puzzle I really enjoyed though my brain was tangled by this special ruleset. I give 3 stars - and 100%, of course. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely gem.

Why does the elephant in r1c8 have a crown on its head?

Fun ideas, and quite approachable. Plus cute heffalumps.

Really interesting and novel ideas. I found myself repeatedly trying to use normal counting logic that just didn’t work (which is exactly the kind of thing I like in a puzzle). It was probably 4* for me.
