Happy Birthday Blobz!
(Published on 25. June 2024, 00:28 by timotab)
A few months ago, Blobz gave me a tutorial on how to construct sudoku puzzles. Knowing his birthday was coming soon, and that it was a big one, that evening I created my first ever puzzle. It has been kept as a surprise until today when I shared with him as his birthday gift. And now I'm sharing it with the sudoku community. I hope you enjoy it, and celebrate Blobz' birthday with me!
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: Fill each row, column, and 3x3 box with the digits 1-9 once each.
- Antiknight: Digits a knight's move apart (in chess) cannot be the same digit.
- Little killer clues: Numbers outside the grid give the sum of the digits along the indicated diagonal. These digits can repeat if allowed by other rules.
- Quadruple circles: A digit inside a white circle must appear in one of the four cells surrounding that circle.
- Digits in cells separated by a V sum to 5. Digits in cells separated by an X sum to 10. Not all Xs and Vs are necessarily given.

Solution code: Row 2, then column 8, 18 digits, no spaces.

Fantastic present to give and create. At one stage I thought I’d still be solving on Blobz next birthday!
