Rules

  • Draw a loop which moves orthogonally through the centers of some cells without branches or crossings. Shade every cell which is not on the loop, leaving all loop cells unshaded.
  • All arrow clues are shaded, and each orthogonally connected shaded region contains exactly one arrow. An arrow clue's value equals the size of its shaded region. The clue's value also gives the number of shaded cells in the direction of the arrow, not counting the arrow cell itself (cells in the same shaded region as the arrow may be counted).

Solve in Sudokupad or Penpa+.

Solution code: The number of shaded cells in each of the first six rows (no separators between them)

I love puzzles with a key implication of the ruleset that the solver must discover. It's not obvious at first, but becomes second-nature by the end of the solve. This puzzle did a great job of introducing that key idea and slowly building upon the difficulty of the deductions around that idea.
