"Pointing Lines" - Snack Pack Vol. 2 (Four 6x6s)

(Published on 21. June 2024, 18:07 by Teal)

Welcome! Below you'll find four 6x6 puzzles utilizing the "pointing lines" constraint which I recently invented, and you may have seen in Horseshoe Toss on Cracking the Cryptic. I set the puzzles below as a way to teach myself the constraint before taking on a 9x9, so I hope you enjoy them! Click the puzzle image to open it in SudokuPad.
Ricochet (Pointing Renbans, Inequalities)

Rules:
  • Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply.
  • Purple lines in the grid are Renban lines. Digits on a line form a set of non-repeating, consecutive digits in any order.
  • Digits on a Renban line cannot appear in any of the cells pointed at by the arrowhead.
  • The inequality ">" symbols point from a larger digit to an adjacent smaller digit.

Green Arrow (Pointing Whispers, Inequalities)

Rules:
  • Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply.
  • Green lines in the grid are German Whispers lines. Adjacent digits along the line must have a difference of at least 3.
  • Digits on a German Whispers line cannot appear in any of the cells pointed at by the arrowhead.
  • The inequality ">" symbols point from a larger digit to an adjacent smaller digit (r6c3 is bigger than r6c4).

Pointing Thermos (Pointing Thermometers)

Rules:
  • Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits must strictly increase along a thermometer, starting from the bulb end.
  • Digits along a thermometer (including the bulb) cannot appear in any of the cells pointed at by the arrowhead at the tip.

keeper (Pointing Renbans + Whispers)

Rules:
  • Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits on a line with an arrowhead cannot repeat in any of the cells pointed at by the arrowhead.
  • The purple lines in the grid are also Renban lines. Digits on a line form a set of non-repeating, consecutive digits in any order.
  • The green lines in the grid are also German Whispers lines. Adjacent digits along the line must have a difference of at least 3.
