Dutch Flat Mates (Rossini)

(Published on 26. June 2024, 11:30 by goodcity)

If you are interested in the Dutch Flat Mates serie created by Flinty, you can find the others here.

Normal sudoku rules apply.

  • 5's live in Dutch Flats : All 5's in the grid must have a 1 directly above it or a 9 directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
  • Rossini : The arrows outside the grid indicate that the first three digits are in ascending or descending order (the highest digit is at the sharp end of the arrow). If there is no arrow outside the first three digits cannot be in either ascending or descending order.

The puzzle is available online via CTC-App

Very nice puzzle. Never heard of a Rossini variant before but it solves smoothly with a lot of pencilmarks

Wonderful! Needed lots of pencil marks but got there.

Thank you for writing the rules in the vernacular. My question is why isn't this a miracle sudoku?

Thanks for your comment ! Here, the grid is empty but there is a lot of given clues. For me, miracle sudokus have an external rule which is very restrictive without clues.

Thank you for this amazing puzzle, goodcity! What a battle it was. I am quite new to Rossini (only my second puzzle in this variant I have ever solved) and I made things even harder for myself by assuming arrows that did not exist and wrong pencil-marking in the process. But after a rewind I tried to be extra-careful and noticed that much of my reasoning had been sound. And when I was on the right track, it was such an enjoyable solve. Thanks again for setting and sharing this terrific puzzle!

Very nice, thank you again. :)

Harder than I remember - haha - Looking forward to Olli and the crew tackling it too. <3
