RAT RUN 3: Double Dutch

(Published on 19. June 2024, 02:33 by marty_sears)

Rules:
  • Normal sudoku rules apply: place the digits 1-9 in each row, column, and 3x3 box (marked with dotted lines.)
  • AIM OF EXPERIMENT: Finkz the rat must reach the cupcake by finding a path through the maze. The path will be a snaking line that passes through the centres of cells, without visiting any cell more than once, crossing itself or passing through any thick maze walls.
  • As well as moving orthogonally, Finkz may move diagonally if there's a 2x2 space in which to do so, but may never pass diagonally through the rounded end / corner of a wall.
  • BLACKCURRANTS: Cells connected by a blackcurrant have a 1:2 ratio (one is double the other.) Not all possible blackcurrants have been given.
  • TEST CONSTRAINT: In this experiment, the correct path will be a valid Dutch Whisper line - ie: adjacent digits along the path must have a difference of at least 4.

Solution code: Digits on the path in row 9 (from left to right)

Very nice placement of walls and blackcurrants here. Super fun puzzle!

Another amazing one.

At first glance it looks like the break in is gonna take some time, but luckily found it out pretty fast and after that it was just the perfect amount of fluidity and challenge to make for one enjoyable puzzle.

The fact that this is just one of many puzzles in a series and yet still has such beautiful and fun logic is simply staggering!

I have a funny feeling that I'm the rat in these experiments.

Very enjoyable puzzles.

Wow, what a wonderful puzzle! It took me days to solve, but I really enjoyed it. The steps to follow are beautifully logical and the interaction between the experiment, the graphics and sudoku. Absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much!

This is my favourite of this series so far!

I love that you always feel to be in a conversation with Marty, where he always goes like "Yeeeeaaah, you would have thought so, would you not?" and he is winking like 5 times a minute.

Absolutely ridiculous talent!

After a long time I found out, Finkz is a backrat.

I normally steer away from Dutch whisper puzzles, but had to take this one on. And I really really loved it! Very clever break-in and good logic through out

Goed gedaan, Finkz !

Wow! The logic in it is completely different from the previous two puzzles! And they are brilliant!

This series continues to be great. I really liked the break in of this one and it went smoothly from there.

The break in took a little time but once I got it I was flying through it.

Lots of initial thinking for me - but Dutch whispers aren’t generally my forte so I’m pretty pleased with it.

I never really liked Dutch Whispers but this puzzle finally got me on board with them. Lovely logic throughout!

Awesome three in a row. Loved the break in. Rather approachable after that. 2.5 star for me. Great fun all along thx.

Excellent puzzle series! The scientists need to watch more closely, as during my experiment Finkz stopped to nibble on a few extra blackcurrants. But she found her way in the end.

What has happened to me? I fell in love with a - rat?! It’s hard to wait another week for watching her next adventure.

Great series. Can't wait until next week.
Thank you very much!

Another great one. Fantastic serie. I can't wait for the irregular 10X10 equal sum for next week and the deconstruction 11X11 parity line last one. How fun if I was right.

Thank you for this fantastic series, marty sears! This one yet again was a pure joy to figure out.
