RAT RUN 1: Primer

(Published on 10. June 2024, 00:32 by marty_sears)

Rules:
  • Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply; fill the grid with the digits 1-6 so that digits don't repeat in a row, column or 3x2 box (marked with dotted lines.)
  • AIM OF EXPERIMENT: Finkz the rat must reach the cupcake by finding a path through the maze. The path will be a snaking line that passes through the centres of cells, without visiting any cell more than once, crossing itself or passing through any thick maze walls.
  • As well as moving orthogonally, Finkz may move diagonally if there's a 2x2 space in which to do so, but may never pass diagonally through the rounded end / corner of a wall.
  • TEST CONSTRAINT: In this experiment, any two adjacent cells along the correct path must sum to a prime number. Also, all the digits that lie anywhere on the correct path within the same 3x2 sudoku box must sum to a prime number too.

Solution code: Row 5 cells that are on the path (from left to right)

This is a very nice puzzle, but it took me a while to wrap my head around all of the rules' hidden "consequences"

Aww, so cute! Such a lovely and fun idea!

It took me a while to figure out what the last rule did, but then it clicked!

How will Finkz the rat evolve? What will be the final form of this rat? I'm looking forward to it!

Hold on Finkz! I'm busting you out of this horrible maze! Wait.. there's cupcakes? And it's actually pretty chill in here? What mind trickery is this mad scientist up to?!

Great puzzle!

Prime example of an amazeing puzzle. I rat'd it 100%. Reached the cupcake - got a beer. Beautiful!

Marty continues to surprise with his genius. Excited for the rest of the series

This very much evokes the feeling of being a rat in a maze and I mean that in the best way. If the rest of the series maintains this kind of quality, we're all in for something truly special.

Very clever. Had to get my note book out

Brilliant puzzle! For a while I was completely sure I'd broken it, because I'd overlooked a very important possibility. Lots of very nice logic crammed into a 6x6. Looking forward to the rest!

really good mix of sudoku and logic throughout the solve! looking forward to the rest of the series.

Just from looking at this I was excited that more were to come, and after doing the puzzle I wasn’t disappointed. Really loved the middle and the many times I thought the puzzle was wide open only to find that I was looking in the wrong place. Can’t wait for the rest of the series.
