PUZZLE:
RULES:
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Digits in a
Killer cage sum to the value in its top-left corner.
Each pair of adjacent values on a turquoise
Same Difference line have the same difference. This difference must be determined for each line.
Clues outside the grid are either
X-Sum (
i.e. the sum of the first X digits in the corresponding direction, where X is the digit closest to the clue)
or Sandwich (
i.e. the sum of the digits sandwiched between the 1 and the 9 in that row or column); the nature of each clue must be deduced by the solver, including each clue along a Same Difference line (as their nature may not be the same).

Thank you very much VKP, this was a brilliant birthday puzzle. Even though you were going for a Marty style (which was very successful - this is the sort of concept I would enjoy setting), it still had some definite lovely VKP-isms in there. The way the cages interacted during the opening was classic Patrick, very clever and beautiful indeed. Of course loved the long SD line outside the grid, and really love the finale with how the deadly pattern gets resolved at the end.
Very slick setting as usual, and for the most part it was approachable enough that my brain was able to cope with it, which I was very thankful for :D
