Meeting the Quota

(Published on 31. May 2024, 12:59 by Allagem)

After my first ever use of Quadruple clues in my last Slingshot Skirmish puzzle, I wanted to get some more practice setting with them, and this time without relying on any other constraint. After much experimentation, I managed to create this quirky little gem. This puzzle shouldn't be too difficult, but I did my best to keep things interesting and I tried to find some original Quadruples-logic to showcase. Hopefully, you will discover something new!

I hope you enjoy my latest puzzle, Meeting the Quota!

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Quadruples: Each digit in a circle appears at least once in the surrounding four cells.

P.S. There was an earlier version of this puzzle with a more challenging ending that a few people tested. I ultimately decided that the ending of this early version really didn't fit in with the rest of the solve path and theme of the puzzle, so I reworked the ending into the final version posted above. However, many of the testers still really enjoyed this earlier version. So, I decided to share this alternate version as well just in case anyone would like to take a look behind the scenes and see an early version of this puzzle. Note that this version has a different final solution and the Solution Code refers to the puzzle posted above, not this alternate version.

Solution code: Column 9, top to bottom (9 digits)

Break-in could almost be 4stars but after that it flows very nicely

Wow, what a great puzzle! Struggled a little bit (a lot) at the beginning to spot the breakthrough, then I realized, "this is it!" And boom, highway to end (of the puzzle). The whole solve was truly enjoyable!

Thanks a lot Allagem!

Caught the break, then slowed right down
Pleasant puzzle so far, though

You need to get idea overall whats happening. Nice one. Enjoyed a lot. Difficulty 3 star is correct

Caught on the initial idea pretty fast which made this not too difficult, but I can see how finding the break in could take time and even be a bit frustrating.

For me it was very enjoyable and quite a bit different than any quads sudoku I've ever done.

Both versions are lots of fun! I definitely had a head start on the second one since the opening was similar to the first, but you're right that it's a fair bit harder -- a bit of a sting at the tail!
