After experiencing heavy bifurcation in my two previous attempts at setting puzzles, both of which were deemed failures and resulted in solvers reaching dead ends and giving up, I received feedback that led to their removal from Logic Masters Germany a few days after publishing. Therefore, this is my first attempt at setting a puzzle with logic that I find flowing and sensible.
Rules:
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Digits in cages must sum to the clue in the corner.
- Digits separated by an X sum to 10, and digits separated by a V sum to 5.
- Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive, and digits separated by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio (one digit is double the other).
- Not all Xs, Vs, and dots are necessarily given.
- Cells with grey circles must contain odd digits, and the cell with a grey square must contain an even digit.
- Purple Renban lines contain a set of consecutive, non-repeating digits in any order.
- Box borders divide the blue line into segments with the same sum.
- Red numbered rooms clues outside the grid indicate the digit that has to be placed in the Nth cell in the corresponding direction, where N is the digit placed in the first cell in that direction (e.g., if R1C8 is 4, then R4C8 must be 5).
- Green X-sums clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the first X cells in the corresponding direction, where X is the digit placed in the first cell in that direction (e.g., if R9C5 is 4, then R6C5, R7C5, and R8C5 will contain the digits 7, 8, and 9 in some order).
Solve the puzzle here.
