Border Square Diagonals

(Published on 21. May 2024, 19:16 by Phistomefel)

In this Sudoku, there are some 2x2 squares whose diagonals add up to the same number. Here are the rules:
  1. Normal Arrow Sudoku rules apply.
  2. A border square is a 2x2 square that crosses at least one box border. For all border squares except for the four marked in grey, the two diagonals sum to the same number. The diagonals of different border squares may sum to different numbers.
The following example illustrates how such squares can look like.

The puzzle is also available online via the CTC-App. Have fun solving!

This one took a long time to sink in, despite having already solved the previous border squares puzzle. I really love how you stop thinking in terms of diagonal sums somewhere in the middle of the solve, as you've necessarily built up some different, more powerful tools, from those initial axioms.

Only 3⅓ difficulty for me, but the logic is even cleverer than before - how is that possible?
