I wanted to create an approachable sudoku deconstruction puzzle. Setting a 9x9 one turns out a bit more tricky than expected, so in the meantime here's a nice little appetizer (hors d'oeuvre).
Rules:
Standard 6x6 sudoku deconstruction rules apply. Fill the grid with 6 non-overlapping 2x3 rectangular regions*, such that each region contains the digits 1-6 once each and no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions do not contain digits.
* Regions are 2 cells high, 3 cells wide.
Shaded cells are not part of any region.
Digits in a cage must not repeat. The number in the top left corner indicates the sum of the digits. Cells outside regions count as 0.
The inequality sign indicates which of two digits is the larger one.
Any comments and feedback are appreciated! And feel free to use/copy/modify the puzzle in any way you want.
Solution code: Row 1 and row 3, with 0's for empty cells (16 digits, no spaces)

I’ve done my fair share of 1* puzzles and I’d have to say this is one of them. Very simple deconstruction logic is used in an elegant fashion.

Well that fascinates me as an avid solver…
It’s indeed an approachable puzzle once you learned about the implication of given digits in this context, but it’s not really beginner material (duh).

How does this puzzle show up in my "Easiest Puzzles" not yet solved? The difficulty ratings are so messed up on this sight. If this is so easy, why have only 80 people solved it?? The problem is that ONLY people who finish it rate it. There are too many geniuses rating somewhat challenging puzzles easy. This should definitely not have a Beginner tab. This isn't even a 1 start difficulty. For me it's a 3. Too many completers continue to leave ridiculous comments needlessly writing off good puzzles as "easy" or beginner.
Nearestneighbour here -- I agree with you! The problem is that if you know some relevant tricks a puzzle might be really easy, and if you don't know them it can be really hard. Every type of sudoku (killer, thermo etc) has its own tricks, and for people who know the deconstruction tricks this is definitely 1 star. But if you're not familiar with them I can imagine it's a lot harder. Still appreciate you tried (and succeeded!) :)
