Parity Vision (6x6)

(Published on 13. May 2024, 01:00 by sfushidahardy)

This puzzle was inspired by KNT's Chaos Construction: Exclusions (8x8). After seeing this puzzle, I thought "there must be a whole bunch of puzzles where cells see different things!"

Rules:

  • Standard 6x6 sudoku rules apply.
  • A given cell "sees" a digit if the digit lies in the direction of an arrow on the cell. Each cell with arrows counts the number of digits it sees with the same parity as itself.

Solve Parity Vision on Sudokupad.

Solution code: The digits in the top row

This one was actually surprising fun. It's a new ruleset for me so it brought along pretty neat new deductions. I think one of the few 6x6 that I've really enjoyed.

Lovely little puzzle, but as always I started off by getting the rules confused. I only really got started once I realised that the cell is the sum of everything it sees, and NOT that all directions are individually equal the cell value.
