Rules

Normal sudoku rules apply. Place one "renbanomino" (an orthogonally connected group of shaded cells that contains a consecutive set of digits) in each of the 9 sudoku boxes such that:

  • All shaded cells are orthogonally connected.
  • All unshaded cells are orthogonally connected.
  • No 2x2 region contains all shaded or all unshaded cells.
  • Each renbanomino includes a circled digit that indicates its size.

I struggled to find the very nice break-in, was looking in all the wrong spots. Flowed very nicely after that, and not too tough.

Very nice. Made few errors along the way but recovered. Path stays logical till the end.

A consecutive set of digits:
Does it mean the digits must be in order or in any order ?

Die Hard: Just like on a renban line, there is no restriction on the order of the digits in a "renbanomino". There is also no restriction on the shapes or sizes of the "renbanominos". For example, you may have a T shaped pentomino, which of course would not have an order.
