Vertigo Yajilin #2

(Published on 7. May 2024, 17:47 by Piatato)

Once again, a combination of Vertigo and Yajilin, this time spiraling a bit further into the depths of the ruleset.

Rules:

Shade some cells so that no two shaded cells are orthogonally adjacent. Clues cannot be shaded, and represent the number of shaded cells in a straight line in the indicated direction.

Draw a single loop travelling orthogonally through the centers of all empty cells. The loop may visit some cells twice, but must travel straight through such cells each time. The loop can not otherwise self-overlap or self-intersect. While travelling along the loop, all 90 degree turns must have the same direction (all left or all right).

Kudamono
Sudokupad

I again have to sincerely thank endagorion! This puzzle would have been impossible without the ideas that I learned through his vertigos and his own Vertigo Yajilin, and in a way, I think of this puzzle as a collaborative project.

Solution code: For each row, from top to bottom, the number of cells in which the loop crosses itself.

Very smart opening! This puzzle forces you to learn every detail and implication of the ruleset in a satisfying yet devilishly evil way. Fantastic work!

im probably going to try this one again after i get some more vertigo experience under my belt... i grasped some of the theory for sure, but it was still very challenging to visualize the correct steps without doing lookahead. im confident it is a great puzzle though! and i did enjoy solving it a lot! thank you for pushing the boundaries of such a neat loop genre.

For such "minimal size", this puzzle is so so so so so evil, I'm broken now.

this was a very long journey for me to get this started and apparently I'm not the only one. it is so cool, how thematic this puzzle is and how well the lack of clues guides you through it in the end. brilliant!

Wow, amazingly clever puzzle! It took me days to figure out the different steps logically but everything is surprisingly fair. A real piece of beauty

Fun once you get your head around it!

Awesome puzzle ! Definitely harder than #1 in my opinion. Requires some understanding of the ruleset that may be easier to grasp if you do #1 first. Thanks :)
