This puzzle is also dedicated to my friend James Sinclair and I do feel like this puzzle captures some of his puzzles' essences there. After this one, I shall be back to reworking some of my older stuff in the past along with reviving a genre that had appeared on this site :)
I think the estimated difficulty is around 2/5 on here. For folks that would like some sweet approachable puzzles, do enjoy the treat!
Rules:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: every row, column and 3x3 box contains digits from 1 to 9 each once.
- Within a cage, digits don't repeat and they must sum to the small number written in the top left of that cage.

Much harder than 2* for me, almost an hour… however, CtC brought me here, where Mark solved this in roughly 20 minutes, so yeah, it‘s probably just me again.

Took me quite a while to place the first digit, but once I found that entry-point it was a pretty smooth solve. Challenging for a relative novice like me, but I enjoyed it a lot!

Not sure why I took an age on this but I got there in the end after a few stops and starts that helped me look at in with fresh eyes. It was harder than other 2 star puzzles I have done. But really liked it!

definitely "handcrafted". but no way is the objective difficulty 2. maybe 4 ... but lowered to 3 IF you ASSUME "handcrafted", because then you will look for the characteristic footprints.

For me rather 3 star than 2 star. Maybe not used enough to pure cage puzzles. Fun but very challenging for me. Great setting thx.

Gorgeous puzzle! I spent a bit more time than I care to admit looking for geometry instead of simpler tuples and such. Very nice theme and execution!
