Usually during the Snooker World Championships, there are a couple of snooker-related puzzles (Florian Wortmann and apiyo) and I thought I would join the party this year.

I think this puzzle was heavily inspired by Florian's one from last year (Snooker Table 2023), including a ball bouncing off the table. In this case, the white came off after potting the pink, hence it incurs a 6-point penalty.

As a twist to my puzzle, I have used the 1-5-9 ruleset, but instead utilising columns 1, 4 and 7.

Rules:

• Normal sudoku rules: Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column, and 3x3 box.
• 1-4-7 (Similar to the 1-5-9 ruleset): Each digit in column 1 indexes the 1 in its row (i.e if R3C1=4 then R3C4=1). The same rule applies to column 4 digits indexing 4 in its row, and column 7 digits indexing 7 in its row.
• Odd pockets: Digits in grey circles must be odd.
• Snooker balls: The number inside a dot indicates the difference between the two connected digits.
• Snooker cues: Each brown line contains the same four digits, which include a 1, 4 and 7.
