H is for Happy Birthday (The Pedalling Pianist!)

(Published on 24. April 2024, 19:17 by Ratfinkz)

Happy birthday The Pedalling Pianist! Thank you for the laughter, the friendship, the acceptance!

Thank you Marty Sears for the testing and the help!

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • The red line is a regionban. It's divided into different sections each time it crosses a box border. The sums of these sections need to form a consecutive sequence of values, which can appear in any order along the line..
  • Kropki rules apply, black Kropki dots mark two digits in a 1:2 ration, white Kropki dots mark consecutive digits! Not all possible dots are necessarily given!.
  • Sudoku Pad Feel free to leave me a comment, I read and appreciate all of them!

Solution code: Row 5

This one does require some thinking initially! It's very quick to solve and not at all difficult, but for a one star puzzle it does wake the brain up!

Did not understand the rules to begin with.. But when I understood it was a nice puzzle

I used colouring to highlight the length of each section, which helped me a lot. The filling in of one of the boxes was a matter of seconds, and the rest fell into place almost automatically. A very easy and smooth puzzle, which I enjoyed very much. The first time I ever encountered the Regionban constraint, and it made my Lunch break very enjoyable indeed. Thanks for setting!

I had some difficulty initially understanding the ruleset, but once it clicked, it all came together.

I had missed the last phrase "can appear in any order along the line", meaning that the region sum could be anywhere in the puzzle, so long as they have consecutive values. I was trying to do consecutive sections being consecutive values.

Now that I understand it better, I'd love to see more of this ruleset!

Ah yeah I can see how it was difficult without that instruction! Thank you for persevering and glad you enjoyed!

This was a really lovely birthday treat, thank you! It perfectly captures the essence "regionified lines" prompt and manages to achieve that rare feat of being an interesting and satisfying 1* difficulty puzzle!

Thank you too for being such a wonderful friend, full of kindness and humour - my streams are always more enjoyable when you're in the chat! Though maybe we need some new, non-3-related banter... :D
