Puzzle link: Play on CTC SudokuPad.
Rules: Normal Sudoku rules apply. Draw a laser path that visits all cages. The laser path is an uninterrupted line that connects orthogonally or diagonally adjacent cells and that may change direction only in cages. A caged digit determines the direction of the laser path in the next step as follows: 1 = up left, 2 = up, 3 = up right, 4 = left, 6 = right, 7 = down left, 8 = down, 9 = down right, and 5 = the laser path stops. (Note: The number panel in SudokuPad is arranged similarly.) The laser path starts in a cage and stops in a cage. A circled digit counts how often the laser path visits that cell.
Solution code: All digits of row 2 (from left to right) followed by column 2 (from top to bottom) without spaces.

Very fun puzzle. The ambiguity of the start and end cages made you have to work for the answer, which I appreciated.

This was a fun adventure! I'd like to see more with this mechanic.

Reply: Thanks a lot! If you enjoyed this, please feel free to check out my puzzle "Remote-Controlled Robot" (ID 000CL6). The directional control of the robot is quite similar to the present puzzle, but requires steering in each step of the path, so overall it has a different feel to it. - TB
