Killer Knights in the Fog

(Published on 12. April 2024, 14:21 by meggen033)

Solve with SudokuPad

• Normal Sudoku rules apply.

• Cells separated by a knight's move in chess cannot contain the same digit.

• Killer cages: Digits in a cage do not repeat and sum to the clue in the top left.

• The grid is partially covered with fog. Correctly placed digits will clear the fog around that cell.

Happy Solving and God Bless!!!

Great Foggy puzzle!

I think the reason why this is rating low is because there isn't much interesting stuff coming up from under the fog (as the antiknight constrains so much). Wonder if any other antiknight+fog puzzles do well.

What a cute, easy, fun puzzle! Great introduction to the antiknight+killer variant, with a cool break-in and a smooth solving path. Thanks again, Meggen033! :)

This is a beginners puzzle. Great intro to multi-variant puzzles. The break in is very easy for most players, but for beginners it is a great way to deduct based on two difference variants. In this case killer cages and Anti-Knight.

Quite a boring puzzle, if you have tried the same type before.

I loved the puzzle, very approachable also for newbies like me :-)
Thanks for it!

Loved and enjoyed it very much - "very nice" from me!

imo that's a brilliant puzzle for beginners who are new to variant/anti-knight sudoku. I find solving this puzzle enjoyable and relaxing as well.

Have solved a good few of your puzzles and I always enjoy them. Nice easy breakthrough although my bad pencil marking didn’t help me much

No idea why people would rate this low. Of course it was easy, but that's expected of a 1* puzzle. I really enjoyed the geometry of the puzzle and found the break-in in particular to be beautiful. Great puzzle :)

Hi, I agree with @fuxia. I feel this puzzle has nothing that makes it exceptional. For me it was just a scanning exercise. I rated it nice because of course it can be considered as a good introductory puzzle to knight move restriction. That being said, I consider it a well designed puzzle and I am grateful for it

I very much enjoyed the puzzle, meggen033, and think it deserves at least 90%. Often easier puzzles do not receive a very good rating (I dont know why that is because for me difficulty and beauty are almost completely independent), but don't be too worried. In my eyes, you are an exceptionally good setter no matter if some people dislike your puzzles. Thank you for setting and sharing nice puzzles on such a regular basis!

Nice, easy, and enjoyable

84% is still better than "nice", no need to worry. :)
Overall a fun quick solve, but nothing challenging. I didn't have to think about anything, it was all very forced. Maybe a bit too much. Leave some wiggle room, so the solver has to ask the right question to make progress. A good puzzle makes the solver feel smart. That doesn't happen here.

I thought it was a well constructed 1* that was relaxing and enjoyable, not sure why others are rating it lower.

Nothing too difficult, pretty straight forward and fulfilled the difficulty quite well.

So this puzzle is bombing in the ratings...Let me know in the comments what makes it not a great puzzle. Would love to know what to look out for in future puzzles. Thanks!
