The Negative Diagonal
(Published on 29. March 2024, 15:42 by 99%Sneaky)
Intro:
Welcome to my April Fools Day puzzle :) Some folks bravely asked for this follow-up to my puzzle
The Positive Diagonal which came out in November of last year and it's finally here. Hopefully this puzzle will teach some of you to be careful what you wish for. Don't say I didn't warn you!
Play on SudokuPad/CTC App
Rules:
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Boxes 3 and 7 are clones, meaning each digit is in the same relative position in both boxes (i.e. if R1C9 is 8, R7C3 must also be 8).
- Digits may not repeat along the marked diagonal.
- Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in the attached circle. Arrows do not branch or overlap.
- Digits along an orange line must have a difference of at least 4.
- Digits separated by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio (i.e. one is double the other). Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Not all dots are necessarily given.
- Digits in a cage sum to the small number printed in the top-left corner of the cage.
- The inequality sign points to the smaller of the two digits it separates.
- Additionally the grid is partially covered in fog. Placing correct digits will clear the fog from surrounding cells, possibly revealing more clues.
Solution code: Column 9 (top to bottom) followed by the digits along the diagonal (top-left to bottom-right).

have a minor issue with the diagonal looking like it might extend one cell further northwest than it does. Bit of a sting int his but still a fun puzzle

I felt this puzzle was the equivalent of climbing a hill, thinking each time you are reaching a peak only to find there's more hill ahead..but the view at the end was wonderful!
Plus, forgive me for my wrong thoughts along the way!
