The X Factors

(Published on 25. March 2024, 03:01 by marty_sears)

Rules:

  • Fill the grid with the digits 1-6 so that each digit appears once in each row, column and region.
  • The orange clues are X products... they give the product of the first X digits in the indicated direction, where X is the first digit seen in that direction.
  • Each question mark represents a digit of the clue. These may be any digit from 0-9. All clues must be determined.
  • Also, every digit represented by a question mark indicates exactly how many times that digit is being represented by a question mark. Eg: if a clue contains a 5, then exactly 5 of the question marks are a 5.
  • Note: Pencil marks may be entered into the clue cells.

I was slightly terrified of this ..... never done a cypher puzzle by myself before, but found it as beautiful as all other Marty puzzles, wonderfully smooth logic! Thank you so much

Amazing puzzle. I agree with ThePedalingPianist, the balance of the various components here is incredible. The solve feels very natural and fun, I have no idea how Marty constructs such elegant puzzles. Using counting-circle-type logic in the X clues outside the grid... crazy weird fun!

Wonderful puzzle. I cannot imagine how hard this was to construct. Very fun concept and execution.

This was a masterclass, you've outdone yourself Marty!

There are so many factors (pardon the pun) at play in this puzzle, ranging from the requirement to have the right amounts of each digit to the requirement to make it a solveable and interesting sudoku, so balancing all of these makes for an incredibly impressive construction! And to squeeze such a variety of logic and deductions into such a small and constrained grid in such a clean way is just showing off! Fantastic puzzle, thank you :)

Very nice snack! And it's so generous of you to allow the possibility of zeros in the clues, thank you!
