Modular Region Sum Lines Sudoku

(Published on 7. March 2024, 20:52 by Phistomefel)

In this Sudoku you have draw in some lines that have to satisfy the Modular Line properties as well as the Region Sum Line properties. Here are the rules:
  1. Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  2. Draw in lines that move orthogonally from cell to cell. Two circles of the same colour are start and end of a line. Lines may not intersect themselves or other lines.
  3. The lines drawn in the grid act both as a Region Sum Line and a Modular Line. Additionally, digits CANNOT repeat on a line.
  4. Region Sum Line: Digits on a line have the same sum in each region the line passes through. If a line passes through a region multiple times, each individual segment sums separately.
  5. Modular Line: Every set of three sequential digits along a line must contain a complete set of residues modulo 3, i.e. one digit from {1,4,7}, one from {2,5,8}, and one from {3,6,9}.
The puzzle is also available online via CTC-App. Have fun solving!

Solution code: First row, last column (18 digits)

Great stuff ! Not a fan of modular logic usually (mainly because my brain doesn't work well around modulo arithmetic), but this puzzle makes a great use of it and I was surprised how I was able to understand what you made us do very clearly ! Thanks :)

I'll give this puzzle the best compliment any puzzle can receive: this solved like a Phistomefel puzzle.

Fantastic puzzle! Having some experience with combining modular and regions sum lines definitely helped, but there were plenty of new things to discover!

The beacons are lit in celebration. They are having glorious feasts in Andor and Gondor. It's The Return of the King!

And his return was epic and triumphant.
