Corners and Sum Lines

(Published on 7. March 2024, 22:17 by Jolly Rogers)

RULES:

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Squares: Divide the grid into non-overlapping square shaped regions. The sum of a square's four corner cells must be divisible by the number of cells that square contains. E.g the sum of the corners for a 3x3 square must be divisible by 9. Every cell must belong to a square and a 1x1 square region is not valid.
  • The cell containing a red circle cannot be a corner of any square region.
  • Parity: Orthogonally adjacent cells separated by a square region border must have the same parity (odd or even).
  • Sum Lines: Square region borders divide each blue line into segments with the same sum.

Really good puzzle.

This is a super fun puzzle, the way the logic works together is very clean. I think initially grasping how the logic interacts is maybe a 4/5 difficulty step, but once you get it the puzzle flows very cleanly and the overall solve feels like a 3/5

Super fun! Many times I thought nothing could possibly be forced but it winds up just needing some attention. Very approachable if your mind works the right way.
