Duplicates

This is somedoku #2. Check out the rest of the puzzles in the somedoku series.

Sudokupad

Rules:
  • Place digits from 1-9 in every cell. For every row 'n' and column 'n' there are exactly 'n' unique digits present. The remaining cells are filled with duplicates. e.g. Row 3 could be filled (1,2,7,1,2,7,7,7,7).
  • Digits in a cage do not repeat and sum to the number in the top left hand corner of the cage, if given.
  • Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive.
  • Digits separated by a blue diamond are duplicates (i.e. the same).
  • Not all dots and diamonds are given.

If you solved this puzzle from the link in the CTC description please note that I made a small change since Simon solved this. The consequence of this change is that all of the digits inverted: 1's for 9's and the 2's for 8's etc. So the solution code is going to be 10 minus each digit you got from that puzzle.

I hope you enjoy it, please leave a comment and rating if you do!

Solution code: Column 6 from top to bottom. Note that if you solved this puzzle from the link in the CTC feature and not from this page then the solution code is going to be slightly different. Instead of 1 put 9, instead of 2 put 8 etc.

Fantastic puzzle! It admittedly took me a bit to realize that the rules applied to both the rows and columns, but once I did, the deductions started flowing nicely!

Interesting and well executed concept. And it was actually much easier for me here to keep track of duplicates than in other puzzles with repeating digits.

The only drawback to this puzzle is that it's so perfect nobody else could possibly make a better one using this ruleset.
