The Battenburg rule is quickly explained: Whenever two odd and two even digits form a little checkerboard, this is indicated by a Battenburg marking. When solving the above-mentioned puzzles, I thought that the Battenburg constraint should go well with summing arrows. This idea led to the puzzle here. I am deeply grateful to CaptZebraCakes. Not only has he introduced me to the variant, but he also has tested this puzzle and explained how to produce the layout with Penpa. Thank you very much for all of this!
The estimated difficulty is 2/5. Please feel free to share in the comments what you think about it and how you like the puzzle. I wish you joyful solving!
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Arrows: Digits on an arrow sum to the digit in the circle from which the arrow emerges.
- Battenburg: Whenever 2 odd and 2 even digits form a 2x2 checkerboard pattern (e.g. R1C1 and R2C2 even, R1C2 and R2C1 odd), a Battenburg marking is given. If there is no such marking, the above pattern is not allowed.
Here you can solve the puzzle online:
Solution code: Row 1 from left to right (9 digits in total)
