Hi Logic-Masters, long time no see!
After publishing Confusing the Polarity, I took a bit of a break from Sudoku setting, as my original goal in joining this site had been accomplished. But I've missed the art of crafting ideas and discovering implications that comes with designing your own puzzles and now the ideas are flowing again, so I'm ready to return to publishing! Hopefully, the inspiration for my return puzzle is obvious to anyone who has played one of the greatest video games ever made - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Although the first version of this puzzle was fairly straightforward, I couldn't help myself and kept experimenting with the exact shape of the lines and the locations of the Kropki dots to see what other more interesting deductions I could weave into the puzzle. I eventually landed on this challenging variation that requires some exquisite logic to unravel. The Ocarina design alone wasn't quite enough to allow a non-bifurcation (or unique) solution, but I am quite proud of the additional thematic clue I created to give that final push towards a logical solve. So there is your hint :) After so much time away from puzzle setting, I present a time-themed puzzle, The Hero of Time! Will you conquer this adventure of a puzzle?
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
German Whispers: Adjacent digits on a blue line differ by 5 or more.
Kropki Pairs: Digits separated by a black dot are in a 2:1 ratio.
Triforce: The four cells containing the Triforce must be filled with four unique digits. (For non-Zelda fans, the set of yellow triangles is collectively called the Triforce.)
PS: I would like to once again thank Mark Tekfan for helping me customize the graphics of this puzzle to give it a unique look that helps sell the design.
PPS: Fun fact, the image of the puzzle on this page has the internal LMD ID: 000MOM, so shout out to my mom for always having the patience to support my hobbies growing up. Remember to call and/or visit your family when you can!
Solution code: Row 3 followed by column 9
