Swiss Whisperers

(Published on 15. February 2024, 11:25 by wuc)

Digits on the given line have three properties. It is a palindrome line (reads the same from both ends), it is a parity line (has never two even or odd digits adjacent) and it is a Swiss Whisperer line (aka British Whisperer line): adjacent digits have a difference of three or more.

Other rules work as usual:
circle: odd digit
square: even digit
killer cage: sums to given total
V: sum=5
X: sum=10

play on sudokupad

Solution code: Column 9, no spaces.

Btw.: You need not mention 'no spaces', because spaces are stripped when entering the solution code.

cool puzzle and I definitely didn't stuck for few minutes because I was lazy to read the rules properly

Nice puzzle. I know this rule only as British Whispers. There are some puzzles with this variant here in the portal.

Naa, you took away the fun of letting me color the line. :)
It was great fun, thanks, wuc!

The rules description could be a bit better (feel free to copy rules text from others) but the puzzle itself is great! A fun bite-sized puzzle with an unusual variant :)
I couldn’t find any other instances of “Swiss Whispers” on this site. Did you invent this variant yourself or did you find it somewhere else?

Really nice puzzle and definitely very approachable for newer solvers.

Agree with describing the rulesets better for those that are new or novice solvers rather than us grizzled veterans with a coffee in hand.

Nice approachable sudoku, nothing difficult but requires you to think about it the ruleset. The biggest issue here is the description of the ruleset, which could be clearer; if it’s an approachable sudoku, the “usual” rules need to be described in more detail for newer solvers(the “cells separated by X sum to 10” rule isn’t described at all)

IDK why such a relatively low rating. Puzzle wasn't extremely difficult but it was a fun ruleset. I enjoyed it. thanks for sharing
