A Knight losing their religion

(Published on 9. February 2024, 13:38 by whiterock)

The knight has ten commandments to abide by, but what you might find is, that they are still losing their religion in the end.

Rules:

Normal 9x9 sudoku rules apply: In every row, column and in every 3x3 box the digits from 1 to 9 have to appear exactly once. Also there is an anti-knight constraint, i.e. cells seperated by a knight’s move in chess cannot have the same digit. Additionally there are 10 clues in the puzzle of which there is exactly one of each:
  1. The digit in the grey circle (in box one) has to be odd.
  2. The digit in the cell with four ordering symbols has to be strictly greater than any orthogonally adjacent cells.
  3. Digits along the thermometer have to increase starting from the bulb end.
  4. Cells connected by an X sum to 10.
  5. Digits along the arrow must sum to the cell circled before the arrow.
  6. Digits in the killer cage must sum to the value indicated in its upper left corner.
  7. Digits along the diagonal pointed at by the little killer clue outside the grid must sum to the value indicated there.
  8. Cells connected by a V sum to 5.
  9. Digits along the grey palindrome line can be read the same forwards as backwards.
  10. Cells connected by a black dot are in a relation 1-to-2 (i.e. one is double the other).

Very nice break in, but later it got harder for me. My scanning is just not good enough.
But it was very enjoyable!

Thanks, whiterock!

i was in full kramnik mode, until i realized i had overlooked something glaringly obvious.
IN FACT, this puzzle is quite easy, and flows very smoothly.

Quickly went through the clues then got stuck on the triple disambiguation. I swore a few times but didn’t lose my marbles and got to the end game. The fact that the triple had a 3 is a possible reason for the pun but that is a guess rather than judgement. Nice puzzle.
