Pseudogenes

(Published on 5. February 2024, 21:00 by ViKingPrime)

PUZZLE:

RULES:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Killer: The value of digits within a cage must sum to the number in the top-left corner.

MODIFIERS:

Genetics: Each digit has two properties. They have a Parity, being either Odd or Even; and they have an Entropy, being either Low {1,2,3}, Medium {4,5,6} or High {7,8,9}. Each cell that is directly connected to two cells in the row above by a green line is considered a child of those two cells (the 'parents'). Each child can be formed by taking a property of one parent and taking the other property of the other parent.

Pseudoku: There are 9 "Pseudo" cells contained within the grid comprising a set of the digits from 1-to-9. Each row, column and box contains exactly one Pseudo cell. Pseudo cells represent the properties of their box digit and not the contained digit (boxes are counted left-to-right, top-to-bottom; e.g. a Pseudo cell in the top third box from left-to-right is considered a "3"). A digit in a Pseudo cell takes on all properties of their box number (including value, parity and entropy) and must satisfy other clue types as their new identity.

INTRODUCTION:

Created for Scojo's latest prompt. You should absolutely check out "Genetics" by Angelo before giving this a go, as that will serve as a good introduction to the logic. If you're unfamiliar with Pseudoku rules, be sure to check out "Pseudo Coup" by SenatorGronk.

Have fun!

I agree with Snookerfan, took me 10 minutes to get used to the ruleset, but after that it was a joy to solve, and flowed very smoothly. Lovely setting!

Wow, what a great puzzle! The pseudoku rule was very confusing at first, but it made sense after some time. Thank you

Is the line pointless?
---
@NRB - The lines are what connect two cells for the purposes of the Genetics rule. If you have yet to solve the original, I would highly recommend solving "Genetics" first by Angelo and that will really help to familiarize yourself with the logic involved -- VKP
