Two Sums

(Published on 26. January 2024, 20:57 by CaptZebraCakes)

Here's a challenging puzzle that is somewhere between a 4/5 and 5/5 star difficulty. Thank you sujoyku for test solving and providing feedback. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave a comment!

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Digits in orange circles cannot repeat; digits in blue circles cannot repeat. However, a digit appearing in an orange circle may also appear in a blue circle and vice versa.

X-sums: A clue outside the grid shows the sum of the first N digits in the row/column from the direction of the clue, where N is the first digit in that row/column. The solver must determine the values of "x" and "y", which must be two different numbers.

Anti-diagonal: Digits along the positive diagonal cannot repeat.

Killer: Digits in cages cannot repeat and must sum to the value in the top left corner of the cage.

Cool idea but as other solvers said, it's at most 3*.

Definitely not a master at x-sums so this was difficult (4*) but beautiful! Thanks, CaptZebraCakes!

Very clean puzzle. Incredible flow when you master the x-sums. But you have to master them. So, somewhere between 3,5* and 4* for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to test this fantastic puzzle, CaptZebraCakes! I have to admit that I am not great at X-sums, but for me the difficulty was 4.5/5.
