Even Cages Even

(Published on 8. March 2024, 12:00 by kierownik)

  1. Normal 9x9 sudoku rules apply: In every row, column and in every 3x3 box the digits from 1 to 9 have to appear atleast once with no repeats.
  2. Killer cages: Digits in cages must sum to the number in the top-left corner of the cage and cannot repeat. Cages are made-up of only even digits.
  3. Non-consecutive: Cells that are orthogonally adjacent cannot contain consecutive digits.

I can't believe people are struggling with the break-in! I mean, the even digits rule is even in the title "even cages even" an even amount of times!

I know it might sound insane but I was stuck for a solid 10 minutes with no idea what to do until I re-read the rules realizing I missed the even cages rule...completely smooth sailing from then on

I am such a numpty sometimes. Couldn’t figure out how possibly to break in to this… then I noticed the even cages rule. I mean, it’s literally the title of the puzzle. Sigh.

Thank you for this beautiful puzzle, kierownik! I first made some error and ran into a contradiction. After restarting, I had a swift four and half minutes solve. Giving you all the even digits as a starting point for non-consecutive is a very elegant idea. Thank you for setting and sharing!
