Inspired by Earth Wurm—a recent collab with yttrio.

Rules:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Draw a one-cell-wide loop of orthogonally-connected cells. The loop cannot touch itself orthogonally, but may touch itself diagonally. Additionally:

  • All squares are on the loop.
  • A digit in a square gives the number of loop cells seen in all horizontal/vertical directions combined, including the cell with the square. Non-loop cells block the vision.
  • The loop acts as a Region Sum Line. The digits on the loop have the same sum in each 3x3 box the loop passes through. If the loop visits a box multiple times, the sum is counted separately for each loop segment.

Solve online:

Solution code: The digits in Row 7 followed by the number of loop cells in Row 7 (10 digits total)

Very nice puzzle! I admit I got a bit stuck on the math-y ending, but everything up until that point was superb and smooth.

Superb. Though I did think it was closer to 4 star in difficulty.

Beautiful how the logic of the loop and the square digits work together to unravel this puzzle. Challenging but never stuck, great balance all the way through the mid-solve. Thanks for setting :]
