2024 con un drum (Sudoku)

(Published on 5. January 2024, 17:19 by glum_hippo)

Normal Sudoku rules apply. Each row, column, and 3x3 outlined box contains the digits 1-9 once each.

Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive.

Digits in cages must add to 42, without repeats. Furthermore, each cage can be divided into 3 sub-cages whose cells are connected orthogonally, i.e., via shared edges. The 3 subcages can be in any configuration and size (one or more cells each), but they must have sums of 8, 11, and 23, respectively. For example, a cage can hold subcages consisting of 8, 245, and 1679; or 125, 47, and 689, etc.

Also, 8x11x23 = 2024, ergo happy new year!)

Solvable in F-puzzles or in SudokuPad.

Solution code: Row 9 (9 digits total).

Great puzzle, interesting pieces of logic, didn't find it too difficult compared to other 4 stars in here

What a beautiful multilayered puzzle. It took me quite a while to get going, with tentative colorings and whittlings down of possibilities --- and then when I realized how the shapes and sums interacted, it started to fall into place. Really fantastic!

Fantastic puzzle! Needed a bit of combinatorial prep work, but after that it was super smooth sailing. Very rewarding!

Tough but fun and rewarding, many thanks and Happy New Year!

Very satisfying solve. I, too, broke the puzzle a couple of times, making erroneous "deductions" about the sub-cages. But the joy of solving this ultimately won out. Brilliant construction!

This was a very fun and rewarding solve. Admittedly took me breaking the puzzle a couple of times before it finally clicked, but it was well worth the effort. The sub-cages constraint adds some really interesting logic throughout the entire puzzle.

Toll! Ich hab keine Ahnung, ob ich diese Kannohne- oder Kannmit-Trommel an zu lösen fangen werde, aber ich finde das Rätsel jetzt schon super :) .
