Enclosed

This is intended as an easy, introductory puzzle for area sum lines. If this isn't an original constraint, please let me know in the comments and I'll credit the precedent.

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Kropki dots: Digits separated by white dots are consecutive.
  • Area sum lines: If a region of cells is enclosed by an unbroken section of orange line, then the sum of digits in the area enclosed by the line is equal to the sum of the digits along the perimeter line section. Digits may repeat on area sum lines if permitted by other rules. Area sum regions cannot be contained within another. i.e. if two area sum regions are conjoined, then the larger conjoined region is not itself an area sum region.

Below is a 6x6 example to illustrate the ruleset.

Very nice. loved how the minmaxing or almost minmaxing emerges to solve the grid.

I haven't personally seen this constraint before, but this was a fantastic introduction to the idea! The math was never too tricky, but was still quite interesting. This line type definitely has more potential!

Thank you for the puzzle, I really enjoyed that. I think it has potential and I hope to see more!

It isn't the same rules, but it still reminded me of a "lemon" puzzle by Clover which has the same shaped lines. In that case the enclosed digits were treated as a 2 digit number rather than summed though.
