Epiphany - Chapter III: Beyond the Miracle

(Published on 1. January 2024, 22:00 by Playmaker6174)

The following puzzle is for the special New Year's celebration and probably the final conclusion of the Epiphany trilogy, for the previous two entries see part 1 and part 2.

The puzzle still follows the combo Numbered Room and Region Sum Line (which is one of my favorite combos) but there's an additional small twist in here. For the sake of easier approach at one particular point, this one will also have two versions, where one is slightly easier than the other one (which is also the original version). I hope you enjoy the puzzle at the end!

Rules:

- Normal Sudoku rules apply: every row, column and 3x3 box contains digits from 1 to 9 each once.

- For each blue line in the grid, digits on the line have an equal sum N within each box it passes through.
(the sum may be different for each line)

- A clue outside the grid indicates the digit that has to be placed in the Nth cell in the respective direction of its row/column, where N is the digit placed next to that clue.

However, all of the clues are ciphered and it's up to solver to deduce which letter is which digit. Same letters will correspond to the same digit, while different letters will correspond to different digits.

(R4C5 contains digit with value A minus 2)
(2A means 2 times A; C-1 means C minus 1 and B÷2 means B divided by 2)

Puzzle: F-puzzle - Penpa plus - Sudokupad

For the slightly harder version, solve the puzzle without the clue in R4C5: F-puzzle - Penpa plus - Sudokupad

Good luck and have fun solving!

Solution code: Row 3 (left to right) and column 5 (top to bottom), 18 digits long

What a smooth and beautiful puzzle! I got stuck at one point but could see a bit further to logically negotiate the bump. All in all, a very satisfying solve. This puzzle deserves to be featured on CtC.
