Oddly Unhinged

(Published on 1. January 2024, 08:44 by meggen033)

I've always liked the idea of having an irregular sudoku with a disjoint set, and I really like how this layout interacts. I have tried to highlight one of the tricks I found buried inside and I hope you can find it. I have set this puzzle at 3 stars for difficulty, although once the trick is discovered it should really only be about 2 stars in my opinion. Also I apologize for not having a solution on the CTC app to check in the end (still trying to figure that out). Hope you enjoy the puzzle and any feedback is much appreciated.

Solve with CTC or Penpa+

Each 3x3 region contains the digits 1-9 once each and no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions don't contain digits.

Disjoint Set: Digits must not repeat at corresponding box positions.

The digits in a cage must sum to the number printed in its corner. Digits may not repeat within a cage.

Digits along diagonals pointed to by arrows outside the grid must sum to the number listed.

The digits along each arrow must sum to the digit in the circled cell.

Happy New Year and God Bless!!!

I‘m not sure I found „the trick“, but solved it anyway. Took me a lot of colouring. I very much liked how the different clues worked together.
