Dutch Flat Mates (Dutch Whispers)

(Published on 3. January 2024, 11:30 by Flinty)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

5's live in Dutch Flats
All 5's in the grid must strictly have EITHER; a '1' directly above it AND/OR a '9' directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
Examples provided below on an empty grid.

Dutch Whispers
Adjacent digits along an orange line must differ by at least 4.

From all DFM-variants that I solved, I liked this one best (unfortunately there is no very, very nice button). What an extremely beautiful grid lay-out! It was a pleasure to solve until the very last digit! Thx.

It's difficult to make an easy puzzle interesting, but you've done quite a nice job. Thanks :)

Thank you for this fun new edition of your Dutch flat series, Flinty! As often, I struggled a little at the beginning. But then I understood a "suspicious" shape of Dutch whispers that allowed for a nice break-in. From that point, the solve went very smoothly and one clue always led to the next one. Thank you for setting and sharing!
