Chaos equals separation

(Published on 28. December 2023, 22:59 by isajo4002)

This was a collaboration with gUBBLOR.

Place 1 through 9 in each row, column and region. Regions must be deduced by the solver. All cells in the same cage must be in different regions. Digits in cages cannot repeat and have the same amount off evens and odds as well as the same amount of highs and lows. Two cell separated by a white dot are consecutive and cells separated by a black dot must have a 1:2 ratio. Digits separated by an X must sum to 10.

play on sudokupad.

Solution code: Column 5 followed by the region containing r4c4

Brilliant puzzle! For those wondering 5 is neither low nor high and cannot be in cages.

Intimidating at first but not that hard.

I have this nasty habit of not retaining all of the rules deep into a solve. I got all the regions sorted, I place a million pencil marks and get massively stuck, after some time, I reread the rules get back to the words, "same amount of highs and lows" and I kick myself, the puzzle just resolved after that.

I had the same confusion about the ambiguity of 5 being high, low, or neither.

Great puzzle and interesting and fun constraint with the odd/even high/low rule. Not from other puzzles, but just from math I applied that 5 is average, neither high or low. 1-4 = less than average. 6-9 = higher than average. Finding the regions was fun and quick once I started in the right spot. Then it was just grinding out the logic and looking for the right cells. Thanks!

Great puzzle. Much enjoyment here. Same thing with the 5s though - I assumed because of similar cages in other puzzles even though it's not explicitly specified.

Very nice and enjoyable flow from start to finish. I felt like I was constantly moving forward and never got stuck, wonderful construction.
