Smoke Point
(Published on 14. December 2023, 17:11 by arbitrary)
This is my latest puzzle exploring the pointer thermos constraint. There is also an
easy, introductory puzzle using this rule set. If this isn't an original constraint, please let me know in the comments and I'll credit the precedent.
Rules:
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Kropki Dots: Digits separated by white dots are consecutive.
- Pointer Thermos: Digits along thermometers increase in value from the bulb end. Additionally, thermometer tips point towards a cell containing the digit within the bulb. The value in the tip indicates the distance to this cell. There may be other instances of the digit between the tip and this cell. If a thermometer has more than one tip, then each tip points towards a different instance of the bulb digit.
Below is an example to illustrate the rule set.

This was very fun. It's funny, I started with your easier puzzle, but I finished this one faster. I think it's just because I had already warmed up my brain on the ruleset. I agree that this one uses more difficult logic. Still, the puzzle flowed smoothly and I loved the break-in.
