Dutch Flat Mates (Renban)

(Published on 13. December 2023, 11:30 by goodcity)

This puzzle was made to thank Flinty for the creation of all those Dutch Flat Mate puzzles. If you had not play them yet, I advice you to do so.

You can find the others of the serie here.

Normal sudoku rules apply.

  • 5's live in Dutch Flats : All 5's in the grid must strictly have EITHER; a '1' directly above it AND/OR a '9' directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
  • Renban line : Digits on a pink line form a set of non-repeating consecutive digits in any order.

The puzzle is available online via CTC-App

Solution code: Row 5

Definitely 3 stars, other than that is not serious...

Trickier than at first blush! Very clever use of the constraints.

Excellent puzzle. I also think that should be 3 stars puzzle.

Thank you for setting and sharing this wonderful puzzle, goodcity! For me, the difficulty was 3/5. Whenever I was about to get stuck, I noticed another thing about some of the renbans that kept me going. What a worthy tribute to Flintys variant this is!

Thank you for your kind comment ! I initially set the difficulty to 3/5 but as usual LMD rating seems lower than my standard !

Thank you for your quick reply! With my own puzzles, it is the same. Often, the estimated difficulty ends up one point lower than I set it initially. But anyhow, difficulty is highly subjective and whether or not this one is 2/5, it is a great puzzle in any case.
