Shifter Lines 105: Phistomefel? Who's that?!

(Published on 27. November 2023, 14:58 by gUBBLOR)

Here's number 5 in my Shifter Line series. The previous and next puzzle in the series:
Shifter Lines 104: Shift your foglights on
Shifter Lines 106: Searching for 5s

All my series:
Equality Cages
EquaLite Cages
Shifter Lines
Shifter Dots

Be aware that if the name doesn't immediately tell you something about the puzzle, you might have a hard time solving it.

Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 through 9 in each empty cell. Digits must not repeat within the same row, column, or box.

Shifter lines: Adjacent digits within the same box on a shifter line share both parity (even/odd) AND polarity (low/high). Whenever the line enters a new box either the parity OR the polarity shifts, never both. Shifter lines can never have 5 on it. Digits may repeat on lines.

Kropki dots: A black dot between cells indicates cell values with a 2:1 ratio. A white dot between cells indicates cells with consecutive values. Not all dots are shown.

XV: Adjacent cells connected with an X must sum to 10. Adjacent cells connected with a V must sum to 5. Not all X's or V's are shown.

Even/Odd: Cells with a filled square must be even. Cells with a filled circle must be odd.

I found that using Phistomefel is not faster than not knowing this trick. Anyway, great puzzle.

People have used “smooth solve” as a description and with this puzzle, I finally understood what they meant. Very fun!

Finished in under an hour which is pretty good for me at this point. I'm not sure if there's more to understand about Phistomefel outside of the relation between the yellow and gray squares, but I don't know that I would have been able to solve if not for that simple fact.

Very nice, but I also found I did not need to use Phistomefel to solve this.
