Wishbone (Killer/Arrow)

(Published on 14. November 2023, 23:23 by dumediat)

This puzzle first appeared in James Sinclair's newsletter Artisanal Sudoku, Volume 96. This is a fantastic publication where you can have two free handcrafted puzzles per week emailed to you, and an additional three per week by subscribing. These are generally very approachable puzzles (~1 to 2 stars for difficulty by LMD standards) which are great for solvers of all levels. James has recently begun including puzzles from other setters, including the one presented here. I personally vouch for the quality of these puzzles, and I highly encourage you to check them out!

Ratings, comments, and feedback are much appreciated! Please feel free to reach out to me on Discord if you have any comments or questions. Please also feel free to try my other puzzles here.

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 to 9 in the grid such that digits do not repeat in any row, column, or 3x3 box.
  • Killer: Digits in cages may not repeat, and must sum to the small number in the top-left corner of the cage.
  • Arrow: A digit in a circle must equal the sum of the digits on its attached arrow. If more than one arrow is attached to the same circle, they each independently sum to the value in the circle. Digits may repeat along the arrows if allowed by other rules.

One of the most perfect easy puzzles I’ve seen, sometimes an excellent puzzle doesn’t need to be on higher side of difficulty. A thoroughly approachable and entertaining solve! :)

So fun with some great moments! I'm not great at sudoku and I found it approachable. It's hard to make a puzzle easy and good. Impressive :)
