Baby Steps

(Published on 7. November 2023, 23:38 by antiknight)

This is a puzzle inspired by Marty Sears's circle rule but with a small twist that involves killer cages. I'd appreciate any feedback on the idea and puzzle.

Rules:
1) Normal Sudoku rules apply:
Place the digits 1-9 into each cell of the grid. None of the rows, columns or boldly outlined 3x3 boxes contain repeated digits.

2) Modified Killer rules apply:
The digits in a cage must sum to the number printed in its corner. A digit in a cage indicates exactly how many cages contain that digit. Eg: if there is a 4 in a cage, then 4 cages contain a 4.

3) Standard Kropki rules apply:
A black dot between cells indicates cell values with a 2:1 ratio. A white dot between cells indicates cells with consecutive values. Not all dots are shown.

4) Standard Diagonal rules apply:
Digits may not repeat along the marked diagonal.

Highly diverting, thanks. Interesting variation on the rules which didn't take me that long to nail down, though the sudoku at the end did slow me down.
