Whispers and Cages-2

(Published on 7. November 2023, 11:34 by Sumanta(ANU))

A follow up of my previous puzzle (Whispers and cages). This puzzle needs a little trick to start, rest is smooth. See hidden comment. Have fun!!

===Rules===

Normal Sudoku rules apply. Additionally, two marked diagonals do not contain repeated digits.

Whispers: Along green lines, neighbouring digits must differ by 5 or more.
Killer Cages: Digits in each cage sum to the total given at the corner of the respective cages. Note that the cage total in box 9 is 7.
Odd-Even: Grey squares contain even digits, grey circles contain odd digits.

Very nice puzzle. I probably took the slow way around to break into it by eliminating possible combinations from the killer cages, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Thanks for the puzzle!

@anyeyeball..Thank you for the solve and feedback. Happy that you found it nice.

Solved and then read the comments about using "set"... I didnt and the probably explains why I was finding it a bit harder than the average 2*!
very nice though.

@28righthand, Thank you for the solve and feedback. Happy that you liked. Yes the puzzle can be solve by eliminations without using set.

I didn't use SET to solve--mostly because I stink at it haha. Really enjoyed it. Thank you.

@Pinknickels, thanks for the solve and feedback. I am happy that you enjoyed. As I said, the path without SET was also intended. As a solver, I won't underestimate the colour (pink) or the metal (nickel). I know that you are an excellent solver of sudoku...

Haha. I am decent up to 3 stars, but have only solved a couple 4 stars that i can recall. At some point I will need to study some more advanced techniques like SET. But for now, I am content to stick with the 1-3 stars.

@Pinknickels, Best wishes!!

I have made/solve a few 4* puzzle in the past but, upto 3* is my comfort-zone as well. 4* puzzles need extra efforts for me...
