Trick Play

(Published on 29. October 2023, 02:30 by ViKingPrime)

PUZZLE:

RULES:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Normal Arrow, Circle, Kropki, Odd/Even, X/V and Zipper rules apply
(a circled digit indicates exactly how many circles contain that digit; digits an equal distance from the center of a lavender line must sum to the digit in the middle of that line).

MODIFIERS:

Two Truths and a Lie: Each of the above standard clue types occurs exactly three times in the grid; for each, exactly two of the appearances of that clue are correct and the other is incorrect.

INTRODUCTION:

So many brilliant setters have tackled this constraint but I've never had the courage myself. I've immensely enjoyed those I've solved, especially thoughtbyte's series but never had a good thought on how to approach it; for me, a lot of setting comes down to the theme and nothing really spoke to me. Not anymore! I think I've finally found the right fit (and an approachable take, to boot).

Here are some puzzles from other setters using the same constraint:
"Pinocchio: a Gentle Liar" by thoughtbyte
"Two Rights and a Wrogn" by SirWoezel

Have fun!

Amazing…takes some insight to figure it out…

After finishing puzzle I watched Simon solve it. And he struggled more than I did and used other logic/sequence to solve this masterpiece.

It feels great if you know you solved it more easily compared to Simon.

Beautiful puzzle with a really satisfying flow of deductions! It's a narrow but very fair solution path so just be careful that you stay on track and you'll find it much more treat than trick!

I found this quite tricky as there was a lot going on and a lot of uncertain variables at the beginning... but once you make some progress, some of the deductions were absolutely delightful, and the positioning of the clues to constantly disambiguate the next thing were masterfully chosen. Lovely stuff

Great fun solving this! A fairly straight-forward break-in and very smooth thereafter. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Lovely puzzle, nice use of some newer variants in this format.

Very fun puzzle, thanks for setting it!

Really found this a joy, felt like swimming along an excellent solvepath. And for a liar puzzle I only broke it once!

Thanks for taking your time to set this!

I'm normally fairly hesitant with liar puzzles but had to give this one a go because of the zippers. Glad I did! Really nice and fair break-in followed by lots of interesting deductions all the way through the solve path.
