Teenage Dream

(Published on 22. October 2023, 17:24 by goodcity)

Normal sudoku rules apply.

  • Fog of war : The grid is covered in fog. Placing correct digits reveals clues in the surrounding 3 by 3 area.
  • Killer cages : Values in cages sum to the number in the top left corner of the cage. Digits and values in cages may repeat.
  • XV : Values joined by an X sum to 10. Values joined by a V sum to 5. Not all Xs and Vs are given.
  • Kropki dots : Values joined by a white dot must be consecutive. Values joined by a black dot have a 1:2 ratio. Not all possible dots are given.
  • Doublers : Within this puzzle there are nine doubler cells, which count as double their value for clues. (one doubler in each row, column, and 3x3 box that form a complete set of the digits 1-9).

The puzzle is available online via CTC-App.

I liked the way that even though you can see a pattern forming, you never feel like you have to assume the total of a cage! By the time you need it, the total is revealed. Very well done.

Very good use of the doubler constraint in this one, thanks for the fun :)

I typically steer clear of fog puzzles, and I typically steer clear of doubler puzzles, because each of those rule sets trip me up quite a bit. I ultimately gave this one a try and I genuinely enjoyed it. Thank you for setting and sharing!

Very good puzzle, with nice addition of the doubler cells and their consequences.
I have never thought about if digits may repeat in killer cages in this puzzle or not but could solve it. :)

Thank you for the comment glad you enjoyed it !
In fact, you can also solve the puzzle without knowing if the doublers can repeat !

How does Kropki work with the doubler? Is for example 5 and double-2 consecutive?

----

Yes they are, it works the same for XV clues, you are not looking to the digit but the value.
