Synchronized Swimming?

(Published on 17. October 2023, 05:00 by Will Power)

Normal Sudoku rules apply. RENBAN LINES- Numbers on purple lines are each a set of non-repeating, consecutive numbers, in any order. KILLER CAGES- Numbers in cages sum to the number in the top left corner of the cage. KROPKI PAIRS- Numbers with a white dot between them are consecutive. Numbers with a black dot between them are in a ratio of 2:1. Not all possible dots are given. Purple and orange lines are the swimmers. Swimmers are considered "synchronized" if ALL numbers on their lines are the same, and in the same order as one another. Find the swimmer that is NOT synchronized with the other 2.

I found the synchronized swimming constraint a little confusing, but the puzzle was easy and straightforward without it. Nice setting.

Is a swimmer both the purple renban paired with the orange line closest to it, or are there 6 different swimmers? I keep breaking the puzzle when I assume there's 3 swimmers (i.e. the first option), but the rules do seem to suggest there are only 3 swimmers not 6 (since you are meant to find the one which is not the same as the other two, and 1+2=3).

@asp1310 Yes, there are three swimmers, each holding both arms over their head. Two swimmers have exactly the same numbers, in the same order, but the other has some numbers different. -Will Power

@Will ...I was being an idiot and somehow was using the top Kropki dot as if it was a white one and kept putting a 7 into it. And it wasn't just once; I re-did the puzzle about three times that way, haha!

I was struggling until I reread the instructions and realized the swimmers were BOTH orange and purple lines. Really enjoyed this solve!

I didn´t understand that "swimmer" rule at all. But it wasn´t necessary for the solve. Until I wanted to enter the solution code :-D
