This puzzle has another version called [159] Tilted Redux.
I wanted another shot at this puzzle, so I tried again. Fair warning, the solution paths do overlap somewhat.

Rules:Normal sudoku rules apply.
Digits must increase on thermometers from the bulb end.
Clues outside the grid give the sum of the digits along the indicated diagonal.
The two cells on the short gray line must contain the same digit.
The digit in the 1 position of a box indexes the 1's location in that box.
The digit in the 5 position of a box indexes the 5's location in that box.
The digit in the 9 position of a box indexes the 9's location in that box.
The positions within a box being:

| 4 | 5 | 6 |
| 7 | 8 | 9 |
