Another Lost Toy (Nala‘s Adventures #12)

This puzzle was created with Sirxemic‘s Sudoku Maker Click here to give sudokumaker.app a try Its a lovely setting tool.

“Another Lost Toy“

Oh no! Where is it? After a loooooooong throw and some weird rustling noises, Nala went for a long search, but came back without her toy and a sad look on her face. Where could it be? Could you help her find it?

Normal Sudoku rules apply: Place the digits 1-9 in every row, column and box exactly once each.

Every digit that appears in a circle must also appear in at least one of its 4 surrounding cells.

If an arrow is present in a cell, the digit in the cell the arrow comes from appears in the grid in the direction of the arrow at a distance of N cells, where N is the digit in the arrow's cell. (Not all arrows are necessarily given - there is not negative constraint.)

Example: If R3C4 had an arrow pointing to the left and was a 3, and the digit below that arrow in R4C4 was a 5, then another 5 would be placed in R3C1.

Additionally the grid is partially covered in fog. Placing correct digits will clear the fog from surrounding cells, possibly revealing more clues.

Solution code: Digits from row 5 (left to right):

The link seems to be dead :(

Sandra here! Can you check again? It works for me and might have been a temporary issue on tinyurl side

Thanks for checking, Sandra! Unfortunately it still doesn't work for me. Tinyurl redirects me to sudokupad.app/eu6b1uxt8f which then gives me a "404 Puzzle not found" error page. Maybe the puzzle got somehow unpublished, so that only you as the author can see it?!

Hi again! This really helped us to narrow down what the issue is! Can you check again? Hopefully it should work now!

Yes, works like a charm again! Thank you for fixing the issue and for making all these cool fog of war sudokus, I really enjoy solving them!

I too had a deadly pattern and spent a few minutes looking for the arrow I'd missed.

I had to wait for this be to covered on CTC as I am woeful on indexing rules and I need them explained to me as reading those types of rules I just don't absorb them in written form!

I tried this one a couple of time between upload and today but ended up guessing to try to understand the rules and then gave up none the wiser. Then Mark explains it and it seemed so simple. Now to go and watch the actual video! lol I did woulder if this would be the only one they wouldn't cover as the only one I needed them to cover!

Another gem in the Sandra and Nala adventure. I got quite the giggle out of what toy Nala was playing with.

Enjoyed it. The first two star puzzle I tried. It took my 45 minutes. I was initially confused about arrows, but once it started to permeate, I loved it

I have never seen this particular arrow constraint before. Took some moments to understand the implications but from then on it was super smooth and a lot of fun. Thank you!

Sandra here. Thank you for the feedback and for sticking with me and Nala on our journey! Hope you find that arrow. I can imagine which one is was.

The art that the fog revealed was really great. Outdone yourself with this puzzle, really great. Thanks for sharing.

Another great adventure with Nala. And this time i could actually see her toy in mobile which made it even more rewarding.
Looking forward to more shenanigans

Sandra here! Thank you for the lovely feedback :) the release of Sudoku Maker allows me to „draw“ her toys now rather than having to use Emoji. This way everyone can enjoy them and I am very happy about this! :)

Very fun! Still relatively new to sudoku and was able to beat it. Either I'm getting better or this is a one star. It's hard to make approachable puzzles engaging so even more props!

The mentioned 'arrow rule' is called a Slingshot and was first developed by Stephane Bura.
